Would a Golden Retriever be okay in quite a small house?

So I really want this dog, and I am getting a puppy soon :). I live in a cozy-type house. It's not very small, nor is it very big. I have a decent sized garden, just enough room for a little (though quite limited) run-around, and I live in a semi-rural location, right next to a park and the woods. I am very active person, I would like my dog to be a jogging companion, though in the week the dog may have to stay alone for 1-3 hours monday to friday. Does the Golden Retriever suit my lifestyle?
