Help with London tube directions please!?

I need to travel from London Waterloo to London Liverpool Street on the tubes but have only traveled them once and can't read the maps properly without a bit of a push in the right direction first ;) So could people please tell me which line/ platform etc this tube would be and how often it comes/how long it takes? Very much appreciated thanks!
