Why do poor people who live in rural communities usually vote Republican?

I live in the country. The old lady up the road votes Republican because she thinks it's the Christian party. She goes to every food giveaway in the valley. She is in on all the county senior programs to fix her roof and paint her house. She takes the property tax and electricity government subsidies from the state. When her husband had a stroke the Life Flight helicopter to him to the hospital. she is constantly looking for every government hand out she can get.
